Metal Roofing in Mobile & Baldwin County

Metal roofs are a popular choice on the Gulf Coast for their long life and performance in wind and heavy rain. ARC Roofing installs and repairs metal roofs for homes and businesses across Mobile and Baldwin County.

Is Metal Roofing Worth It on the Gulf Coast?

Short answer: for many homeowners, yes. Metal roofs typically last much longer than asphalt shingles, shed heavy rain quickly, reflect heat, and when installed correctly hold up well in high winds. The trade-off is a higher upfront cost.

Standing Seam vs. Exposed Fastener

Standing seam panels use concealed fasteners and raised seams, giving a clean look and fewer places for leaks. Exposed-fastener panels cost less but have screws through the panel face that need periodic inspection as washers age. Near the water, we recommend corrosion-resistant panels, fasteners and trim suited to salt air.

Metal roofs can also be installed as FORTIFIED roofs for added protection and possible insurance discounts in Alabama.

Past Project: Rusted Metal Roof Restoration

A commercial metal roof restoration we completed a while back. The roof had widespread surface rust, but the panels were still sound, so instead of a costly replacement we restored it. We treated every rusted area with a rust-inhibiting treatment and primer, replaced damaged panels and worn fasteners where needed, and sealed every seam, fastener and pipe penetration with a base coat and embedded reinforcing fabric. The fabric strengthens the seams against the expansion and contraction that causes leaks on metal roofs.

Two finish coats completed a white reflective cool roof that is dramatically cooler to the touch, backed by a 15-year manufacturer’s warranty. Tap any photo to view it larger.
